ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Fighters affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Wednesday claimed responsibility for an attack on the Kurdistan Region-Ceyhan oil pipeline in the southeast Turkish province of Kahramanmaras.

The statement came hours after the KRG announced that pumping crude oil through the pipeline would resume after a brief pause in the wake of the incident. The attack did not affect the daily export amount.

The PKK launched a similar attack in late 2020, dealing significant financial damage to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

In addition to carrying crude from Kurdistan Region, about 75,000 barrels of oil from the disputed Kirkuk province are exported daily through the Kurdistan Pipeline to Ceyhan.
