PM Barzani emphasizes importance of strong security amidst growing ISIS threat

He also said that the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga must maintain its cooperation with the Iraqi military and the US-led coalition against ISIS.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discussed the latest development in Syria and Iraq, especially the growing ISIS threat, with Kurdistan Region Minister of Peshmerga Shorish Ismail and Minister of Interior Rebar Ahmad on Sunday. 

Barzani expressed his concern about the increase in the number of ISIS terrorist attacks in Iraq and Syria and emphasized the importance of strengthening the Kurdistan Region's defensive lines and security measures against the terror threat.

He also said that the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga must maintain its cooperation with the Iraqi military and the US-led coalition against ISIS.

On Thursday, ISIS militants attacked a prison where ISIS members are detained in the northeastern Kurdish-controlled city of Hasakah. Dozens of ISIS militants were killed near the prison.
