ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Three Katyusha rockets reportedly landed in al-Karma, a city in Anbar province and the hometown of Iraqi parliament speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi, wounding two civilians late Tuesday.

Iraq's military communications center, Security Media Cell, condemned the attack as a "cowardly terrorist act," noting that rockets had landed in al-Karma city, located about 40 kilometers west of Baghdad's center.

The cell added that the rockets were launched from close to the Tigris River without specifying further. The first rocket fell behind a municipal building, it said; the second, in front of a civilian's home; and the third, in the Rashad area, injuring two people.

"The security services have taken the necessary measures in connection with this incident," the media cell added. However, it did not accuse any party of being behind the incident, as has been the case in similar attacks in the past.

Iran-aligned militias have previously been the main suspects in such assaults.
