“In other operations conducted yesterday (Tuesday) at 10:00 p.m., our forces liberated 17 others. Since yesterday morning, the number of prison staff liberated has risen to 23,” it added.

It also said that its security operations are continuing inside the prison.

Among the fighters liberated was Bawar Cudî, and eight other fighters, Kurdish media reports.

They resisted for five days without food or water and armed only with light weapons.

In one picture Cudî is shown with a blackened face inside the prison flashing a victory sign, after SDF fighters managed to reach his position in the prison. He was later reunited with his mother.

On Jan 20, 200 ISIS fighters attacked the Sina'a prison in Al-Hasakah city.

In response, the SDF launched a large operation with the participation of about 10,000 fighters and Internal Security Forces, known as Asayish in Kurdish.

The SDF entered the prison on Tuesday. It said that a total of “550 terrorists” (mutineer prisoners) have surrendered since Jan. 20.

Moreover, the SDF captured a block of buildings consisting of eight dormitories inside the facility.
