ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Turkish warplanes Tuesday evening struck suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iraq's disputed areas of Makhmour and Sinjar, resulting in casualties and severe material damage, security sources said.

There were at least seven air raids on suspected PKK positions in Makhmour, the sources told Kurdistan 24. One source noted that the at least 11 strikes in Sinjar (Shingal), "caused a number of deaths and injuries."

No additional details were immediately available.

The Kurdistan Region Directorate of Counter Terrorism said on its official Facebook page that the Turkish strikes targeted six PKK sites on the Qara-Chogh mountain range. It also claimed warplanes struck two PKK-affiliated positions inside Syria as well as others close to the border inside Iraq.
