Kurdistan Region president discusses economic ties with Turkey’s Erdogan 

The Turkish presidency similarly tweeted the news that Barzani was received at the Turkish Presidential Complex in Ankara without elaborating on the details of the meeting.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani visited Turkey and discussed economic ties between Erbil and Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday the Kurdish presidency said. 

In their meeting, the two presidents discussed Turkey and Kurdistan Region’s bilateral relations and reaffirmed their “mutual willingness to further strengthen the important commercial and economic ties between the two sides,” a press release from the Kurdish region’s presidency read. 

The Turkish presidency similarly tweeted the news that Barzani was received at the Turkish Presidential Complex in Ankara without elaborating on the details of the meeting. 

Barzani and Erdogan also discussed “joint partnership, the political status in Iraq and the latest regional developments,” according to the Kurdish presidency. 

The Kurdish president previously visited Turkey in September 2020 and held meetings with the country’s top officials, including its president and foreign minister.
