ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discussed trade relations between the Kurdistan Region and Qatar during his meeting with the Gulf state's commerce minister on Wednesday, according to a statement.

Prime Minister Barzani began the second day of his visit with a meeting with Qatari Commerce and Industry Minister Mohammed bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al-Thani in the capital Doha on Wednesday.

In the meeting, Barzani and the Qatari minister discussed the development of Kurdistan Region and Qatar relations, particularly in the trade and commerce sectors, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

"We agreed to exchange technical teams and receive a fact-finding mission to explore agriculture and industry," Barzani tweeted.

"Kurdistan’s organic produce — some of the world's finest — has great potential to meet regional food security," he added.

They also discussed trade opportunities between the two nations and ways to enhance them.

Prime Minister Barzani arrived in Qatar on Tuesday accompanied by a delegation of KRG ministers following an official invitation to visit the wealthy Gulf nation.

In addition to meeting a number of high-level Qatari ministers, Barzani is set to meet Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the country's leader.

This is Barzani's second diplomatic visit to the Gulf region in less than a month. He visited the United Arab Emirates in late January, where he met with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed.
